Preferred network interface

I connected to my laptop via RDP (LAN) in my network. I would then like to connect to the Internet via a modem connection. I changeed the network interfaces metrics, but my computer always uses the LAN interface to connect to the internet, not the modem connection interface as I want. How else can I force communication via a modem connection?

Any idea?
